Abstract (EN)

Since the cold filter plugging point (CFPP) values of biodiesel fuel blends are low, it needs to be improved because it has been reported that serious problems occur in the case of using high ratio of biodiesel in the fuel blends in cold regions. In this study, the effects of ethyl proxytol (1-ethoxy-2-propanol) additive on the physical and chemical properties of biodiesel fuel blends, as well as the combustion and emissions of the fuel were investigated. In accordance with the volumetric contents of the test fuel blends, E0B0D100 (100% diesel fuel), E5B10D85 (10% biodiesel, 5% ethyl proxytol and 85% diesel), E5B20D75 (20 biodiesel, 5% ethyl proxytol and 75% diesel), E15B30D55 (% 30 biodiesel, 15% ethyl proxytol and 55% diesel) and E15B40D45 (40% biodiesel, 15% ethyl proxytol and 45% diesel) fuel blends were examined. A four-stroke, water-cooled, single-cylinder, direct-injection diesel research engine (Kirloskar TV1) was used as the test engine. The experiments were carried out at a constant speed of 1500 rpm and loads of 0 kg, 2.5 kg, 5 kg, and 7.5 kg using the Eddy Current dynamometer. As a result of experimental studies, E15B30D55 and E15B40D45 fuel blends were determined to be more advantageous than neat diesel fuel in terms of cylinder gas pressure, net heat release and average gas temperature values at medium and high loads. On the other hand, E15B30D55 and E15B40D45 fuel blends were compared with E0B0D100, E5B10D85, and E5B20D75 fuel blends; in addition to the improvement of the CFPP value of the fuel blends with additives, it had been determined that the combustion and emission characteristics were improved to the diesel fuel curves in a way that did not have a negative effect.
