The development of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) is vital for addressing global energy efficiency and sustainability challenges. However, the ESCO market faces significant barriers, such as financial constraints, regulatory gaps, limited client awareness, and underdeveloped technological infrastructure, particularly in emerging markets. These challenges hinder policymakers from formulating effective strategies and businesses from adapting to market demands. This study examines factors influencing ESCO market development for residential projects in Turkey, focusing on its unique economic and regulatory dynamics. A conceptual model explored the impact of legal, financial, market-related, technical, and client characteristics. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analyzed survey data from 41 Turkish ESCO professionals, providing valuable insights despite the small sample size. The findings revealed that client characteristics had the greatest influence on ESCO market development, emphasizing the demand-oriented nature of the Turkish market. Financial factors, particularly support from financing organizations, also played a critical role. However, the direct impact of legal, market-related, and technical factors was limited, with "Energy Saving Monitoring Infrastructure" excluded for its minimal influence, reflecting underutilized advanced technologies in Turkey. This study underscores the importance of clear legal frameworks, robust financial mechanisms, and targeted client awareness campaigns in fostering ESCO market growth in Turkey. Theoretical contributions identify key variables influencing the ESCO market, while practical recommendations include enhancing regulations, enhancing client awareness, and improving financing access. This study integrates findings with frameworks, providing insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers, and paving the way for future studies in emerging markets.
