The views of the experienced teacher, parent and authorities at home education services toward home education services

The aim of the study is to determine views of the experienced teacher, parent and authorities at home education services toward the process and application of home education services. Based on the aim, the research is a descriptive qualitative study. The participants were determined by maximum variation sampling method which is one of the purpose sampling types. The participants consist of 31 teachers, 7 parents, and 2 authorities experiencing home education services in Ağrı, Turkey during 2016- 2017 academic year. Data were collected via a semistructured interview form prepared through the existing literature and revised to experts' suggestions. Data were analyzed using deductive thematic technique. According to the findings of the research, teachers, parents and officials involved in home education services stated that home education is a nice and useful application that contributes to the development of the learners and that this service is necessary for the students who can not go to school to continue their academic development. In addition to this, stakeholders stated that the education service at home provides equal opportunity in education and that individuals prevent them detaching from life, individual education and instant feedback and development are followed more easily and the education life of the individuals who can not go to such education is continued. The authorities and the parents are acting in accordance with the regulations in the home education process. Teachers have been applying to take part in educational services at home for different purposes, such as additional income and experience. Although both teachers and authorities encounter several obstacles, parents state that they do not experience problems at all. Stakeholders made different proposals such as eliminating the lack of material, raising awareness of the teachers, providing socialization and increasing the tuition fees in order to make the process more effective.
