Özet (EN)
As a result of the study, a significant relationship was found in the death anxiety and quality of life scores of individuals aged 65 and over depending on living in the nursing home or in their own home. It is thought that the researches to be carried out with different variables will help the elderly people understand the anxiety of death better. The study group of the study consisted of 81 individuals over the age of 65 living in the nursing home, and the comparison group consisted of 80 elderly individuals who were matched with these elderly individuals in terms of age, gender, education and socioeconomic level as much as possible. The information about the sociodemographic characteristics of the individuals included in the study was filled in by the researcher through a face-to-face interview using the "Sociodemographic Information Form". Clinical evaluation was performed with the Mini Mental Test (SMMT) to evaluate all individuals who participated in the study in terms of cognitive impairment. The death anxiety of the participants was evaluated with Templer's Death Anxiety Scale (ÖKAYÖ) and their quality of life was measured using the Short Form-36 Quality of Life Scale (SF-36). The mean of ÖKAYÖ score in the nursing home group was found to be statistically significantly lower than those living at home. In addition, in the nursing home group, Social Function, Pain, Physical Function, Role Constraints Due to Physical Problems, and Role Constraints Related to Emotional Problems and Language Total Score of SMMT were found to be statistically significantly lower than those living at home. It has been determined that there are significant relations in cognitive level and quality of life depending on socio-demographic variables such as religious belief, working status, length of stay in the institution, and institutional satisfaction. As a result of the study, a significant relationship was found in the death anxiety and quality of life scores of individuals aged 65 and over depending on living in the nursing home or in their own home. It is thought that the researches to be carried out with different variables will help the elderly people understand the anxiety of death better.
