Özet (EN)

This study aims to investigate the relationship between personality traits of married couples and their marriage satisfaction. The participants included in this research consist of 50 married couple who live in Göztepe in İstanbul and whose ages were between 25 and 60. In the research, Five Factor Personality Inventory (FFPI) that was developed by Goldberg (1990) that investigates personality traits and was standardized into Turkish by Sümer & Sümer, and Marriage Life Scale (MLS) that was developed and standardized by Tezer (1996) were used. The analyses were done in SPSS. The men, whose responsibility and openness to experience scores are high, get higher scores in marriage satisfaction, also. In addition, men with lower scores in neurotism, get higher scores in marriage satisfaction. Women, who get higher scores in extraversion, get higher scores in marriage satisfaction, also. There is a statistically meaningful medium-level negative relationship between peer to peer responsibility scores' difference and sum of marriage life scale scores of couples. The men who get higher scores in compatibility are married with the women who get higher scores in marriage satisfaction. In contrast, the men who get higher scores in neurotism are married with the women who get lower scores in marriage satisfaction. The women who have compatibility and responsibility personality traits are married with the men who get higher scores in marriage satisfaction. The results, limitations and suggestions to further studies were discussed in accordance with the literature.
