Investigation of asprosin levels in BLOOD, saliva and gingival crevice fluid in follow-up patients with stage 1 and stage 2 periodontitis

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The relationship between asprosin and diabetes, as well as the form of the relationship between diabetes and periodontitis, led our study to examine the relationship between asprosin and periodontitis. We have limited studies on asprosin in the field of dentistry. The limit of determining the relationship between the criterion asprosin and periodontitis obtained from this use result. Material and Method: Our study was carried out on 30 patients aged between 23-58 years in the Periodontology Clinic of Adıyaman University Faculty of Dentistry. In addition to the demographic information of the individuals participating in the study, permanent pocket depth (SCD), bleeding index on probing (BI) and plaque index (PI) were measured before periodontal treatment. In addition, expanding blood, ring and gingival groove fluid (GCF) samples were taken before the onset of periodontal load to determine asprosin and pyridinoline levels. After completing the treatment, the patient switched to the maintenance phase. Three months later, periodontal death (SCD, BI, and PI) and biochemical products (blood, saliva and DOS) were measured again. Also measurements on directions obtained by measurements. Results: Asprosin values of the patients participating in the study showed a significant increase after treatment compared to before treatment (p<0.05). When the pyridinoline values before the treatment were compared with the values after the treatment, a significant increase was observed in the blood (p<0.05). A decrease was observed in saliva and DOS. While the decrease in saliva was statistically insignificant (p>0.05), the decrease in DOS was significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the findings of our study, it was observed that there was a significant increase in asprosin levels in blood, saliva and gingival groove fluid after periodontal treatment.
