Cost analysis of collection, transportation and storage of domestic solid wastes

This study was carried out by examining each expense item and budget data spent on the collection, transportation and storing of domestic solid waste for one year period (2017). In this study, costs of waste collection equipment, investment costs of waste transportation vehicles, staff expenses, fuel expenses, vehicle maintenance, and repair expenses, and the purchase of equipment and spare parts constituted the main items of annual solid waste collection and transportation cost. The aim of this study is to determine the cost of the existing waste collection and transportation system and to estimate the costs during 2018-2022 considering the changing population. The transformation movement called "Urban Transformation" with unplanned urbanization and construction existing in Turkey has started to show its effect on the town in recent years and with the replanning of the district, it has become inevitable to create alternatives in the existing solid waste management. Therefore, this study was carried out to examine the existing solid waste collection system and alternative systems. As a result of the study, the existing system was analyzed and it was located that the yield of the underground garbage container collection system was high and the operating costs were low compared to the other collection-transportation systems.
