Abstract (EN)

In this study, the wood anatomical characteristics of 6 shrub-formed plant species, belonging to six different genera in the Fabaceae family were examined: Calicotome villosa (Poir.) Link, Chamaecytisus hirsutus (L.) Link, Colutea armena Boiss. & A. Huet, Caragana halodendron (Pall.) Dum.Cours. (Syn: Halimodendron halodendron (Pall.) Voss), Prosopis farcta (Banks & Sol.) J.F.Macbr. and Spartium junceum L. Quantitative wood anatomy properties such as vessel tangential and radial diameters, vessel wall thickness, vessel pit diameter, ray heights (uniseri, biseri, and multiseri), multiseri ray width, number of vessels per unit area, and number of rays per 1 mm were determined on wood sections of the plant species in this study. Vessel member length and fiber dimensions (length, width, and wall thickness) were measured in macerated wood samples. These species of the Fabaceae family: Prosopis farcta in the Caesalpinioideae stands out with its wide confluent paratracheal parenchyma bands, while others in the Papilionoidea share the characteristics of helical thickening in vessel walls, storied structure, and forming groups in oblique or diagonal pattern where normal and very narrow diameter vessels with paratracheal parenchyma and vascular tracheids.
