Abstract (EN)

This study aims to identify the factors affecting the growth of deposits in Iraqi commercial banks. Data were collected and analyzed from the annual financial statements of commercial banks operating between 2014 and 2020. Additionally, 1,003 questionnaire forms were distributed to the customers of these banks, and the opinions of external auditors were also collected. The statistical analysis involved studying the correlation and regression between the independent variables and the dependent variable using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program. The study reached the following conclusions: There was a positive significant effect of interest rates on bank deposits. There was a negative significant effect of the inflation rate on bank deposits. There was a significant effect of banking awareness on deposits. The relationship between average per capita income and deposits was insignificant, though it was a direct relationship, with a positive correlation between average per capita income and total deposits. Any increase in per capita income had an effect on the total deposits. There was a statistically significant relationship between the traits of the banks and the size of bank deposits. There was a statistically significant relationship between the reputation and fame of the banks and the size of bank deposits. There was also a relationship between the quality of the external audit report and the size of bank deposits.
