Determining leisure satisfaction and happiness levels of state employees working in different institutions (Kırıkkale province sample)

The aim of this research is identifying leisure time satisfaction and happiness levels of state employees working in Kırıkkale province according to various demographic commonalities and determining the relationship between these two variables. The sample of the research consists 261 voluntary state employees working in different institutions of Kırıkkale province. Data collection tool of the research has 3 parts. In the first part, there are some personal questions supplied for defining demographic characteristics of individuals. In the second part, the "Short Form of Oxford Happiness Scale" is provided for determining the happiness level of workers attended to research. In the last part, "Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale" is used for determining in which level an individual is satisfied with leisure time activities of him/her. To evaluate the results, t-test for independent samples with descriptive statistics, MANOVA and ANOVA tests are used. On the other hand, for determining the correlation between leisure time satisfaction and happiness, Pearson Correlation Test is used. According to findings, it is stated that the places for recreational usage are not enough for the population so individuals living in this city have difficulty in valuing their times and they prefer indoor or social activities, instead. One of the main factors of leisure time satisfaction is "relief" while "physiological" factor comes at the very last of the ordering. Moreover, it is concluded that happiness points of the attendants are above the average. According to correlation analysis, it is determined that there is a weak positive correlation between leisure time satisfaction levels and happiness of the state employees.
