DETERMINING THE EFFECTS OF APPLYING FARMYARD MANURE AND TEA WASTE IN VARIOUS AMOUNT ON SOME PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SEDIMENTS This study was carried out to investigate the usability of the sediments accumulated in the Borçka Dam reservoir as a plant production environment after application of organic material and bacteria. In this research, tea waste and farmyard manure was used as a source of organic matter. In this greenhouse experiment, differences between organic matter source, bacteria applications and rates of application were determined in terms of organic matter content, total carbon, nitrogen and sulphur content, pH, aggregate stability and field capacity moisture content. For this purpose, organic matter content and aggregate stability of sediments were determined in 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 14th and 18th weeks while total carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, pH and water holding capacity were determined at the end of the 18th week. Statistical analyses showed that the organic matter application caused improvement in the examined properties of the sediments and this improvement tended to increase depending on application rates, but the bacteria application did not cause any significant changes for the studied properties of the sediments. In addition, it was revealed that the effect of tea waste application on sediment properties was clearer than the application of farmyard manure. At the end of this study, it was suggested that the sediments that were adequate for plant production in respect to its texture might be used in greenhouse practices and seedling plantations following addition of organic matter.
