Özet (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of post activation potentiation (PAP) applied with different squat exercises on vertical jump performance. 14 male individuals voluntarily participated in this study. Four different treatments were applied to the participants as eccentric, concentric, equal eccentric-concentric, and control. Vertical jump tests were repeated after 30th sec, 3rd, 6th, and 9th min after 3 sets of 3 repetitions of squat exercises with 1 RM 85%. In the exercise where the eccentric phase duration was kept long, the eccentric phase duration of the squat exercise was completed in 4 sec, the concentric phase duration was completed in 2 sec. In the exercise where the concentric phase duration was kept long, the eccentric phase duration of the squat exercise was completed in 2 sec, the concentric phase duration was completed in 4 sec. In another treatment, the eccentric phase duration of the squat exercise was completed in 3 sec and the concentric phase duration in 3 sec. In the control treatment, passive rest was performed for the duration of the squat exercise treatment without any activity. The two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures was used for the statistical analysis of the data. As a result of the study, there was a significant difference in vertical jump performance at 30 seconds, 3rd, and 6th minutes between the squat treatment with a long concentric phase duration and the control treatment when compared with the pre-test (p<0,05). The time period with the optimal performance increase was the 3rd min. There was no significant difference in vertical jump performance in squat treatments with long eccentric phase duration and equal eccentric-concentric phase duration compared to the control treatment. As a result, it was found that squat exercises with 3 sets of 3 repetitions of 1 TM 85% extended concentric phase time increased vertical jump performance.
