Determining the effect of using different writing activities on student achievement and attitude about 8th class simple machines

In this research, it is aimed to investigate the impact of writing letters, poems and summaries which are some of the different writing activities on 8th grade students' academic achievement and their attitude to Science course. This research was designed as semi experiment and it was conducted with 98 8th grade students from 4 different classes in a state school in Muş in the school year of 2018-2019. From these students in A,B, C classes were assigned as experiment group and the students in class D was assigned as control group randomly. From these experiment group, class A was wanted to write summary, class B was wanted to write poems and class C was wanted to write letters clearly to the 6th grade students. In these experiment groups (class A, B and C) and control group (class D) the subject of '' simple machine'' was studied according to Constructivist Approach. Despite that the students from control group were wanted to solve problems about the topic in the course book. The Simple Machine Achievement Test and Science Attitude Test which were consisted of the multiple choice test which were used in SBS (Level Statement Exam), TEOG (Passing to the Secondary Education from Primary Education), OKS (Secondary School Examination), PYBS (Free Boarding Education and Scholarship Exam) and open ended test were used for the data. Before conducting the experiment Science Academic Test and Scientific Attitude Test were applied as pretest and after that same tests were used as posttest. Analysing the data after there search it is indicated that writing summaries,poems and letters whicharesome of the different acedemic writing activities in crease the students' academicsuccess of eightgradestudents on the subjectof''Simple Machine''and affect their attitude possitively to Science course.
