Determnation of the water quality and pollution level of Fatsa Calislar creek

Abstract (EN)

This work was started in April 2016 to determine the quality of water and pollution level in Çalışlar Stream, which is merged into Black Sea at Bolaman town of Fatsa province. The fieldwork was carried out for 12 months and water samples were collected monthly from 3 different stations. From water quality parameters; total phosphorus (TP), soluble reactive phosphate (SRP), dissolved oxygen, dissolved oxygen saturation, pH, temperature, salinity, biological oxygen demand (BOD5), total alkalinity, total hardness, chlorophyll-a, total ammonia nitrogen (TAN), total dissolved solids (TDS), oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), nitrate, specific electrical conductivity and electrical conductivity were analyzed. The mean values of the obtained results were 10,57 mg/L dissolved oxygen, 100% oxygen saturation, pH 8,85, temperature 12,81°C, salinity 0,12 ppt, TDS 143,55 mg/L, conductivity 179,88 μScm-1, total hardness 104,26 mg/L, chlorophyll-a 0,47 μg/L, specific conductivity of 228,21 μScm-1, ORP-136,03 mV, BOD5 1,98 mg/L, total alkalinity of 90,51 mg/L , TAN 0,29 mg /L, Nitrate 2,01 mg /L, TP 0,17 mg/ L, SRP 0,023 mg/L and AKM 17,33 mg/L. Based on the results obtained, it was determined that the water of Çalışlar Stream is in compliance with the Regulation on Water Quality of the Surface. Çalışlar is accepted as high quality water class according to water temperature, pH, conductivity, salinity, TDS, nitrate, dissolved oxygen saturation, dissolved oxygen, TAN, BOİ5 parameters. Furthermore, other parameters were all determined at non-polluting levels.
