Abstract (EN)

In this study, the use of Phase Changing Materials (PCM), which has attracted the attention of scientists in recent years and has been the subject of many researches, as insulation material in buildings has been analyzed in terms of thermal. Experimental method was used in the study. A mechanism made of wooden material with dimensions 110x50x50 cm was created. Two adjacent rooms were created by placing 50x50x10 cm PCM and non PCM walls in the middle of this mechanism. In this study thermal properties of phase change materials of 1% PCM, 3% PCM and non PCM walls that selected for Adiyaman climatic conditions have been researched. An experimental setup was established to keep the indoor and outdoor temperatures at a desired constant value. In the study, the indoor temperature was kept constant at 23 °C. The outdoor temperature, on the other hand, taking into account the winter conditions of Adiyaman province, was carried out separately for each wall at different temperature conditions such as 0 °C, 4 °C, 8 °C and 12 °C. In this study, the total heat transfer coefficient and the amount of energy consumed in a specific time period were used to compare the results. Electricity meter is used for specify the amount of energy consumed in a specific time period. It was determined that the total heat transfer coefficient obtained in the study was lower in the wall with PCM than in the wall without PCM, and the lowest U (W/m²K) value was determined for the case between 12 °C and 23 °C in the wall with 3% PCM. It has been determined that increasing the Phase Change Material also decreases the heat transfer coefficient. It has been determined that the internal surface temperature of the wall with PCM is 1.36 degrees higher than the wall without PCM. When the energy they consume are compared, it has been determined that the lowest energy consumption is at the wall with 3% PCM and the use of PCM in buildings contributes 15-40% to the heating load. Key Words: Phase Changing Materials, Heat Transfer Coefficient, Energy Conservation
