Research on the learning and studying approaches of the candidates of science teachers

This research has been done to determine the relation between the gender,class and age factors and learning&studying approaches of university students who receive their educations in the department of "Science Teaching". 190 students who receive their educations in Adiyaman University,Faculty of Education,Department of Science Teaching have been involved in this study in the years 2014-2015. The research is a descriptive study in a relational screening model. Data fort his research have been obtained practicing the Learning&Studying Approaches Inventory prepared by Hounsell and the others (2002) and adapted to Turkish by Topkaya and the others (2011). Points gathered from learning approach sub-dimensions are directly proportional with the level of students' prefering that approach. The data of this study has been analyzed by using Mann-Whitney U test. Also,for the determination of the maeningful distinctions between the groups more than two,Kruskal-WALLIS test has been used. According to the indications obtained in this study, one can see that there is no meaningful distinctions in superficial,profoundly and strategic learning approaches in students' inventory points in respect to the gender factors. And in another sub-problem of the study,while there is no meaningful distinction between the class levels of the students and their superficial&srtrategic learning approach points, a meaningful relation has been obtained between the points of profoundly learning approaches. We see that the the profoundly learning approaches of fourth class students is higher than the students from other classes. Also, there isn't any distinction between the level of ages and the learning&studying approaches of the students.
