Examining science teachers' views about STEM according to some variables

The STEM approach is an educational approach advocating the teaching of science, technology, engineering, mathematics as being a consistent and coherent way. The aim of this research is to determine the views of science teachers about STEM. The research is a causal comparison and the survey was conducted within the scope of the research. The working group of the research is science teachers working in Kayseri in the academic year 2016-2017. The teachers who participated in the research were determined by the purposive sampling method. In order to collect data in the research, the researcher developed the "Investigation of the Views of Teachers Conducting the Science Course about the STEM" scale. The scale provides data from science teachers participating in the survey on the use of the STEM: Self-efficacy, student contribution status, school conditions qualification and development sub-factors. As a result of the analyzes on the answers to the scale text, it was found that the opinions of the science teachers about the STEM did not show any significant difference according to their gender, education levels, and learning grades. On the other hand, according to the seniority independent variable, it has been found that science teachers with 16-20 years experience have more positive opinions about the STEM. The results of the research show that STEM education is known to a great extent by science teachers and that this education is mostly heard by the Ministry of National Education sources. Nevertheless, it was determined that the majority of the teachers who participated in the survey had not received the STEM education before.
