Comparison of efficiency of mechanization techniques in nurseries

The mechanization techniques (consisting of five phases) applied at the seedling production stage in Gökçebey Nursery Directorate were compared with manpower. The stages of comparison are made; soil cultivation, preparation of seedbed, planting, maintenance and dismantling of the seedlings. During the production of 2 + 0 aged, Tefen origin seedlings in Gökçebey nursery, 30 time unit measurements were made at each stage. According to the unit time measurements performed, it was determined that soil cultivation was 38.6%, pillow making was 60%, planting was 45.6%, maintenance work was 59.4% and seedling was 51% more efficient with tractors mounted equipment. Also, when both methods are compared in terms of economy, it has been determined that machine operation will be economical according to human power in the case of soil cultivation in a 150 hectare area, 158 seedbeds are formed, 310 seedbeds are dibbled, maintenance work on 218 seedbeds and dismantling of sapling in 182 seedbed.
