Activities of the Jewish Colonization Association in the Jewish settlement in Palestine

The issue of immigration and settlement of Jews to Palestinian lands is an important place in both Jewish and Palestinian history. The national, civil, legal and political status of Jews in European society created the Jewish problem. In Christian European states, Jews have always been considered "other" and excluded. Especially since the 19th century, the situation of Jews in Europe has deteriorated further due to the influence of antisemitism. The source of this problem was primarily due to theological reasons. For centuries, Jews were seen as the murderers of Jesus Christ and were accused of blood libels and ritual murders. In later periods, they were portrayed by governments as the criminals who created the economic crises. With the expansion of the nationalist movement in Europe, Zionism, representing nationalism, emerged as a reaction to anti-Semitism. Charitable institutions founded by Jewish intellectuals and wealthy Jews began new initiatives to save their fellow believers from difficulties in the countries where they lived. One of these was the Jewish Colonization Association (JCA), organized under the guidance of Baron de Hirsch. The primary duty of this institution was to ensure the migration of Jews from Europe and Russia to Palestine with a certain order and support. The activities of this comprehensive institution initiated the colonization process that led to the establishment of the state of Israel, which would provide legal security for Jews in the future.
