The effect of financial technologies on company performance

The acceleration of technological developments in the globalizing world has created digital transformations in the finance sector as in many other sectors. The finance sector has also kept up with this digital change and companies that use financial technologies very well have emerged in the sector. These companies are Fintechs, which are Financial Technology companies. Fintechs emerged and gained importance after the Global Financial Crisis in 2008. These Fintechs, which provide various advantages in the field of finance in the form of Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Digital Banking, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Smart Contracts, Open Banking and Artificial Intelligence, are very important as they make it easier for users to carry out their activities. In the study, quarterly data on internet banking and mobile banking, which started to be published under the title of Digital Banking as of 2017 on the official website of the Banks Association of Turkey between 2017-2024, were used and the effect of the use of these financial technologies on the financial performance of banks was analyzed. The financial performance criteria Return on Assets ratio and Return on Equity ratio will be used as dependent variables in the study. The independent variables that are thought to have an effect on the dependent variables are; Money Transfer Transaction Volume, Payment Transaction Volume and Investment Transaction Volume. In order to measure the effect of independent variables on dependent variables, "ADF", "Lee - Strazicich Break Unit Root Test", "Bayer Hanck Cointegration Test", "Gregory - Hansen Cointegration Test", "Hacker-Hatemi-J Causality Test" and "FMOLS Test" were preferred. The analyses of these tests were made using Gauss 21 and Eviews 12 software.
