Abstract (EN)

Technological advances in recent years with the help of decreasing economic costs and increase in carbon dioxide emissions lead to power generation from renewable energy sources in power systems. Among the renewable energy sources, photovoltaic (PV) units are the most preferred for energy production type. The connection of photovoltaic units to the power system with high penetration causes some differences (intermittent generation, lack of rotor, etc.) and negativities (reduction of the total inertia and primary frequency support, etc.) to traditional generation. Therefore, the use of energy storage units in power systems is increasing in order to eliminate aforementioned effects. In this study, the responses of PV plants and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in dynamic events to power systems and their effects on the system are analyzed for power system stability. The analyzes were performed using DigSilent Powerfactory simulation program. In the study, which is discussed in detail, power systems of different sizes are used to analyze from many aspects. The features, control options, penetration/sizes, numbers and locations of PV plants and BESS units are considered in the study. Transient event types and locations in systems are other cases considered. In addition, the characteristics of the load types and their interaction with the examined structures are also included in the study. In the study, transient and frequency stability analyzes were performed. The voltage stability was also analyzed.
