Investigation of the change made by GAP in the socio-economic structure of Gaziantep province

ABSTRACT MASTER'S THESİS INVESTIGATION OF THE CHANGE MADE BY GAP IN THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC STRUCTURE OF GAZIANTEP PROVINCE Zehra GÜMÜŞ Thesis Advisor: Doç. Dr. Emine TEYFUR 2022, 100pages The aim of this research is to examine the change in the socio-economic structure of Gaziantep province, and to reveal the effects of GAP on the migration movements and business potential of Gaziantep province. In the research, the effect of GAP on agriculture, industry and service sector of Gaziantep province was tried to be determined. According to the purpose of the research, a semi-structured interview form, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Studies (Theses, articles and papers) in which GAP is used in the Turkish literature will form the universe of this study. The researches in which the GAP is shared and the researches that share the province of Gaziantep specifically for this research will form the sample of this study. In the interview form, besides the personal characteristics of the participants, there are questions about the effects of GAP on the agriculture, industry and service sector of Gaziantep, the effect of GAP on the migration movements of Gaziantep, positive or negative effects on the business potential and opinions about the project. In this direction, interviews were held with 15 people. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the diversity of agricultural products increased with the functioning of the project, reverse migration movements were experienced, cultural activities were experienced in education, employment increased, in short, the city became a center of attraction. As a result, it has been seen that the GAP project has positive effects on the socioeconomic development of Gaziantep province. Keywords: GAP, agriculture, ındustry, service, employment.
