Non-muslim buildings and catalog work in Gaziantep city center

In the thesis, it is aimed to recognize and protect the aforementioned buildings, to bring them into the daily life of the city, to emphasize the architectural richness and to document the historical and architectural diversity of the city through cataloging. The study, which is limited to the city center, was carried out on non-Muslim buildings. The aim of the thesis is to reveal the architectural diversity and the historical richness of the city center. Within the scope of the thesis, there are suggestions about the examination, photographing, cataloging of non-Muslim buildings, places of worship, educational institutions and a few private buildings in the city center. The thesis consists of 10 chapters. In the first chapter, there is information about the determination of the problem, the literature summary, the purpose, scope and method of the research. In the second second, there is information about non-Muslim and minority identities. The rights and demographic structure granted to non-Muslims by the Ottoman Empire are examined. In the third chapter, the neighborhoods in Gaziantep city center are detailed and shown on the map. The investigated structures are introduced in detail with tables. The tables in this section include the construction date, site plan, plans, interior and exterior photographs of the buildings. In the continuation of the section, the locations of the non-Muslim buildings on the map are given. In this section, the current use, first use and location of the buildings are shown in three maps. In the fourth chapter, the beliefs and religious structures of Antep Armenians are examined in detail. In the fifth chapter, information about Antep non-Muslim educational institutions is detailed. In the sixth chapter, there is the existence chart of the selected buildings in the city center. The chart includes the construction dates and expiration dates of the buildings. In the seventh chapter, there are structural analysis and catalog examples. The content of the structural analysis includes its location and place in the structure, and material and technical titles. The general evaluation of urban architecture is made in this section. While cataloging the catalog samples, the catalogs whose method and technique were used were examined structurally. In the eighth chapter, there is the catalog index and the catalogue. Within the catalog work, there are 7 churches, 1 synagogue, 19 educational institutions, 1 hospital and 1 orphanage. Along with the architectural and historical researches of the buildings, their plans, location and places in the building, inscriptions, material and technical information, restoration information, today's function and visuals are cataloged. In the discussion part of the ninth chapter, comparisons of the studies were made. In the tenth chapter, a general evaluation was made with the title of conclusion, and the typology, original use and current use of the buildings were examined. There is also an evaluation title in the conclusion section. By adding the structures known in Gaziantep city history, located on the territory of the Fertile Crescent, to the inventory, it is aimed both to eliminate the lack of information and to document the richness of the city's history.
