Abstract (EN)

About 3% to 5% of pregnancies are complicated by birth defects or genetic disorders. In women's health, the period in which the events and complications related to pregnancy and childbirth are experienced most intensely is the fertility period, which is between the ages of 15-49. The chromosomal abnormality is found in approximately 1 in 150 live births, and congenital malformations are among the leading causes of death in infancy and childhood. Worldwide, an estimated 7.9 million, or 6 percent, of all babies are born with serious genetic disorders and millions of others with post-conception disorders during pregnancy. About 3.3 million children under the age of 5 die every year due to congenital anomalies. For survivors, these disorders can lead to lifelong mental, physical, auditory or visual disability. Maternal and newborn health best reflects the health status of a country. The World Health Organization (WHO) often uses the maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality statistics of countries as an indicator of the health status of that community. Preconceptional and prenatal follow-up is important for good maternal and infant health. In the literature review, it was seen that such a study had not been done before in Adıyaman. One of the measures to be taken to reduce infant mortality, which has a decreasing trend in our country, is to increase the frequency of screening methods during pregnancy. The aim of our study is to determine the knowledge levels and attitudes of pregnant women in Adıyaman province about screening tests during pregnancy. Within the framework of the results obtained, it is aimed to advance the health of mother and baby by explaining the importance of early diagnosis in order to take the necessary precautions. This study was planned to measure the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of pregnant women in Adıyaman province about screening tests. The formula n=Z2 a/2 P(1-P) /d2 was used to determine the sample group. The number of people to be sampled was calculated as 358 with 95% confidence interval, 37% prevalence, and 5% standard deviation. The criteria for inclusion in the study group were to be women over the age of 18 and to be in the 28th week and advanced pregnancy period. Pregnant women under the age of 18, pregnant women with reactive hypoglycemia, pregnant women diagnosed with diabetes before and followed up, and those with multiple pregnancies were excluded. The survey is planned to be XIV completed between 01.02.2020-01.04.2020. The questionnaires were prepared after the necessary literature review. The questionnaires contain questions about sociodemographic characteristics and the participants' knowledge, attitudes and behaviors towards the screening tests. The validity and reliability study of the questionnaire was carried out and the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was found to be 0.575. Questionnaires will be administered by the researcher who will carry out the study, through face-to-face interviews. Participation in the survey is on a voluntary basis, and the surveys will be administered after informing the participants and signing the consent form. The obtained data will be recorded in the package program, error checks, tables and statistical analyzes will be made through this program. The means will be given together with the standard deviations. X2, t test and analysis of variance will be used as the statistical analysis method. p<0.05 will be considered significant.
