Özet (EN)

Slit check dams are a water structure used especially in rugged regions where heavy precipitation regimes are seen. While it passes small materials coming with high-speed flood flow, it does not allow the passage of large materials that are drifting (such as rocks, large stones) and floating (trees, logs, etc.). These structures, which are built at regular intervals, also change the hydraulic characteristics of the stream flow. In this thesis, the effects of slit check dams on the hydraulics of the flow were investigated by experimental and numerical methods. For this purpose, firstly, blocks of different sizes were placed in an open channel and their hydraulic behavior under different flow conditions was experimentally investigated. Secondly, three-dimensional numerical model analyzes were performed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for the same block types in model experiment dimensions. The hydraulic properties of the flow such as water surface profiles, energy absorption ratios, velocity profiles obtained from numerical and experimental models are presented and discussed. In addition, this experimental and numerical model results were compared and the numerical model was tried to be verified. Finally, numerical model studies were carried out in real prototype dimensions and the current states of different Froude numbers were examined. In this study, the movement of solids is not emphasized, but only the hydraulics of the flow.
