Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of the sea water intake temperature on the performance of the refrigeration system which exists in the cargo vessel are introduced. First, a parametric study with different sea water intake temperatures has been carried out by applying conventional exergy and exergoeconomic analyses to the refrigeration system. Then, to overcome the technological, physical and economic limitations and to increase knowledge about the refrigeration system, advanced exergy analyses were applied.The refrigeration system consists of a compressor, a condenser, two evaporators with different evaporation temperatures and two expansion valves. The exergetic efficiency of the refrigeration system was calculated based on varying sea water intake temperature which enters the condenser while other operating parameters are kept constant. Sea water-intake temperatures are selected in terms of regional sea water temperaturesvalues which are assumed to be in the vessel route. As a result of the study, it was determined that the hot entry of the sea water into the condenser causes a reduction in the exergetic efficiency of the refrigeration system. Some of the exergy destruction in the refrigeration system components is unavoidable and constrained by technological, physical and economic limitations. Based on the all-reaching analysis, by improving condenser and compressor the greatest improvement in the exergetic efficiency of the refrigeration system can be achieved.
