The relationship between relative arm and leg strength and vertical jump performance in young volleyballers

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between relative arm and relative leg strength and vertical jump performance in young volleyball players. The sample of the study consisted of 30 male athletes (age 15.80±1.00 years, height 180.23±6.14 cm, weight 72.57±12.33 kg) playing in volleyball teams registered in Kırşehir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports who agreed to participate on a voluntary basis. In this context, relative arm strength, relative leg strength and vertical jump distance measurements were examined in male athletes. IBM SPSS 29.0 package program was used to analyze the data obtained at the end of the measurements. According to the results of the study, there was a weak positive significance between relative arm strength and vertical jump (r=, 466, p<0.01) and a moderate positive significance between relative leg strength and vertical jump (r=, 646, p<0.001). As a result, it was determined that lower extremity relative leg strength was more effective than upper extremity relative arm strength in vertical jump performance and with all the results found, the two values had a direct positive effect on jump performance.
