Abstract (EN)
In this study; The relationship between young adult individuals' substance use tendency, metacognitive thinking skills, perceived parental attitudes and emotional intelligence was examined. The sample of the study consists of young adult individuals between the ages of 20-45, 258 of whom are women and 135 are men. The data of the study were collected with Demographic Information Form, Substance Abuse Proclivity Scale (SAP), Metacognitive Thinking Skills Scale, Abbreviated Perceived Parental Attitudes Scale-Child Form (EMBU) and Rotterdam Emotional Intelligence Scale. Obtained data were analyzed using Independent Sample T Test, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of regression analysis; It was found that the sub-dimensions of metacognitive thinking skills did not predict the tendency of young adults to use substances, while the dimensions of emotional intelligence only evaluating their own emotions and controlling the emotions of others predicted the tendency to use substances. Considering whether perceived parental attitudes predict substance use tendency; It was found that both parents' overprotective and rejecting attitudes predicted the tendency to use substances, while the emotional warmth dimension did not. The findings were discussed in line with the studies in the relevant literature.
