Landscape component combinations preferred by youth for urban recreation areas

Abstract (EN)

This thesis study aims to reveal the effects of landscape components and their relationships with each other in the organization process of spaces to be created in urban recreational areas for young people. For this purpose, a survey method was applied to 1002 undergraduate students determined by using the stratified sampling method in the study. The data obtained from the students who voluntarily participated in the survey were evaluated with statistical analyses performed in the SPSS 22.0 program. In parallel with the leisure time awareness of university youth; from the abiotic components, the topography shape is flat and wide, the topography structure is planted, the hydrology structure is mobile, wide and superficial, the hydrology content is natural, the climate is sunny, less rainy, humidity-free and mild were primarily preferred. Among the biotic components, evergreen, soft-tex tured, spring-colored, spreading, round and hanging-shaped plants and animals living in trees were preferred; among the cultural components, transportation is provided by pedestri an, bicycle and bus, the road features are wide, safe, the road shape is arranged, long and permeable, accessibility is safe, within walking distance, accessible to everyone, easy and close to the area; and for man-made elements, aesthetics, providing quality of life and com patible with nature were preferred. As a result, scenarios were developed in light of these findings.
