Ghewond's history

This work covers the translation of Ghewond's historical texts from classical Armenian into Turkish, translated into English by Robert Bedrosian. The knowledge that Ghewond, the Armenian author, whose life we have never met, was elevated to the degree of Doctor of the church and died in the second half of the century has been confirmed by the research of Robert Bedrosian. Robert Bedrosian, who translated the work into English, asserts that Ghewond's records are hardly trusted, unqualified, and biased. The fact that Ghewond wrote the history book under the auspices of Shapuh Bagrutini, son of Smbat Sparepet, who organised the Armenians to revolt against the Muslim rule left the Armenian source in need of explanation in terms of Islamic history. The main objective of our study is to address this need and make the Armenian source more useful in terms of Islamic history. This source, which ghewond created in the shadow of Armenian nationalism and religious belief, is far from objective, suggesting that Robert Bedrosian saw priests "Encouraging their enemies. Although Armenian historical sources are biased sources, their use through a detailed analysis is a must for historiography. For this reason, during the creation of this work, other contemporary works, especially Islamic sources, were examined and Ghewond's records were tried to be clarified by comparing them with the findings obtained. The transcription of Ghewond's work into Turkish is based on English texts, which Robert Bedrosian titled as 42 chapters and added chapter summaries.
