The effect of entrepreneurial passion on innovative behaviours and fear of failure: The mediating role of grit

Entrepreneurial passion is the emotion that leads the entrepreneur to make a super-effort towards a new venture or product. This emotion coordinates the cognitions and behaviours of entrepreneurs, and burns the fire of desire, which leads to the ultimate success with grit, innovation and free from fears. In this context, the passion for entrepreneurship has begun to take its place in the entrepreneurship literature in recent years. Entrepreneurs contribute to the national income by establishing new businesses and creating new jobs, besides this, they increase the social welfare through the innovation standards they offer. In this process, they face many difficulties and possibilities of failures. On the other hand, success depends on the grit of the entrepreneur, hard work, courage, determination and ability to reach capital. Entrepreneur's endeavouring effort over the years is the work of his passion and grit. In the literature review shows that there are no studies on the relationship between entrepreneurship passion and innovative behaviours and fear of failure, also betweengrit. In this context, the aim of the present study is to analyse the effects of entrepreneurship passion on the innovative behaviours and fear of failure and the mediating role of grit in the relationship between these variables. The sample of the research is composed of entrepreneurs and managers in the Organized Industrial Zones of Kayseri (n = 519). Data were collected with the help of a questionnaire covering entrepreneurial passion, grit, innovative behaviours and fear of failure scales and the validity and reliability of the data were tested. The data was analyzed using Smart PLS-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. Besides this, a model that will increase the effect of entrepreneurship passion on the innovative behaviours and the fear of failure with the mediating role of grit is presented. According to the research findings, a positive relationship was found between entrepreneurial passion and innovative behaviors. Likewise, a positive relationship was found between entrepreneurial passion and grit. Additionally, research findings reveal that grit shows a full mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial passion and fear of failure. At the end of the study, some theoretical and practical recommendations of the research are presented.
