Reflections of the concept of nomadism on contemporary ceramic practices in the form of tents

Abstract (EN)

The thesis study prepared has been gathered under seven main sections. In the introduction, the concepts of migration and nomadism from primitive ages and the examination of the tent form in terms of the understanding of space and its importance for different human societies are given. In the second chapter, information is given about the displacement movements of human beings in the historical process, the difficulties they face, the differences between migration and nomadism, common points, causes and consequences. In the third part, explanations are given about the issues such as the concept of space, which is the main architectural element of shelter from the first ages of history to the present, the importance of the human-space relationship, the shelter possibilities of communities with active lifestyles, the historical development of the tent form and its effects on today's modern architecture. In the fourth chapter, the information obtained as a result of examining the daily lives, items of use, cultural elements, accommodation facilities, living spaces and traditions of today's living areas and traditions of human communities living in various regions of the world with different cultural characteristics are included. In the fifth chapter, a comprehensive study has been made on the subject of people who had to change places for different reasons in the past and today and its effects on artists. In addition, the researched subject is painting, architecture, sculpture, installation, textile, photography, performance, etc. It has been discussed in terms of art disciplines such as and supported with various examples. In the sixth chapter, the approaches of different communities to art in every period of history, in which art manifests itself in every society, are examined. Information has been given about the use of ceramic material throughout history, its importance in human life, the relationship of active people with ceramic material and its place in daily use. In addition, the work was tried to be enriched with examples from national and international artists who take the form of migration-nomadism and tent form in their works. Nomadism and tent form were transferred to personal interpretations and original works were tried to be produced by using various materials.
