An examination of Göknil Özkök Sezener's children's books in terms of children's literature

Language is considered as one of the most important elements in the construction of a society. Language, which is the most important tool of the dynamics and cultural carrier that makes the society a society, increases its value with its richness. Turkish, which is accepted as one of the richest languages among the world languages, is of great importance both in terms of its existence in the historical process and the wide geography it has spread. In recent years, children's literature has gained a great share in the progress of generations and the development of the world. The most meaningful task of art and literature in the development process of the child is to provide the child with language richness. Books, which contain the best examples of the richness of language, have an important place in the development process of the child. For this reason, qualified children's literature products should be put forward and existing products should be reviewed in detail. In this thesis study named "Analysis of Göknil Özkök Sezener's Children's Books in Terms of Children's Literature", 12 children's books written by Göknil Özkök Sezener were examined in terms of their compatibility with the basic principles of children's literature and analyzed in line with the opinions of various experts. In the study, document analysis from qualitative research methods and descriptive scanning model was used as a model. Data analysis was done with content analysis. While examining the compatibility of the works with the basic principles of children's literature, the opinions of two Turkish teachers and an expert in the field of Turkish were consulted. First of all, the concept of child, the concept of children's literature, the development of children's literature in the world and its development in Turkey are explained, and then information is given about the writer Göknil Özkök Sezener, who wrote the works in the study, and his literary personality. The format and content principles that should be found in children's books are explained in line with the criteria determined by various experts. In the findings and comment section, all the books of the author are covered in terms of format, size, binding design, page and text design, picture; In terms of content, it was examined as subject / theme, fiction / installation, hero / character, message / message, language and expression. The words that the group addressed under the heading of language and expression may have difficulty in understanding and the idioms in the books are shown in tables, figures of speech are identified and shown under separate headings. When all the books are examined, it has been observed that the author reflects his musician identity in the majority of his works. The author used too many musical terms in his stories about music, and since the majority of these terms are technical terms, the fluency of the text was negatively affected. The author, who gives importance to education in his biographical stories about world-famous musicians, has also taken into consideration the elements of children's literature such as message, fiction and hero in his works written for younger age groups. Apart from the frequently used technical music terms, no negative elements were encountered in some works, and it was observed that the author wrote his works by paying attention to the basic principles of children's literature in general.
