Özet (EN)

Mankind, who has been filled with the urge to play since he opened his eyes to the world, has enabled him to make sense of his life, himself and his environment, as well as existing in nature with this urge. The phenomenon of play brings to mind the childhood period and childrens games, usually. However, the place of the game in human life is not limited to this. Play is the basis of all human activities. After the historical, social, cultural, mythological and philosophical aspects of the game, certain thinkers and theorists interpretations of the game were evaluated. Then, the similarity of the elements of the game with the art was examined. Movements, artists and their works that hold the effect of the game are exemplified. Afterwards, a game-art and player-artist relationship was established. The effect of the play on contemporary art production is explained and contemporary artists who have a play element in their works especially after 1990 are included in the study. The thesis was completed by giving examples from the works of the thesis author related to the subject. The applicability of the game phenomenon within the scope of contemporary art has also been determined. The world is a playground and people are puppets with willpower, and it is through personal practice that the actor creates this playground through art. Through this thesis, it has been determined that the purpose of producing a work is the motive of play, that even the production process itself becomes a play and provides a playground to the artist during the production process and to the audience after its exhibition. It was concluded that the game motive constitutes the essence of our self.
