Abstract (EN)

Oil and natural gas, which is the primary energy source in our country as well as in the world, has increased its strategic importance even more and has become an indispensable input of the industry and economy. There are many source rock deposited in different geological periods in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, and this region is important for our countrys oil production. The oil resources brought to the economy in our country meet a very small part of the petroleum need, and a large part is supplied through imports. This situation reveals once again the importance of prioritizing investments for the discovery and utilization of new hydrocarbon resources. In this context, the strategic importance of all kinds of works carried out in the country for oil and natural gas is increasing. Each new field to be found as a result of the studies will contribute to domestic production and reduce oil imports, thus reducing our dependence on abroad while meeting our oil needs. This study deals with the detailed investigation of organic materials that precipitated with sediments in sedimentary basins in the geological past and resulted in the formation of oil and natural gas (hydrocarbon), especially with biomarker parameters and carbon isotope data. By using saturated-aromatic biomarker and all extract/oil and component-specific d13C isotope data, the source rock-oil correlations in the region will be made and the sources of the oils will be revealed. These results will make a significant contribution to the scientific literature, with their contribution to establishing oil-source rock and oil-oil correlations, they will be useful especially in oil exploration studies and in the discovery and development of oil, and will make a socio-economic contribution.
