Distribution and seasonal changes of ichthyoplankton in Southeastern Black Sea

Abstract (EN)

This study which was carried out in Black Sea Region between 2008-2009 specifically in Hopa, Sürmene and Giresun aimed to determine the pelagic spawn of fish species, distribution and abundance of egg and larvae and the environmental parameters that affect them. In the first year, in Sürmene some sample studies were carried out monthly like horizontally and graded vertically in four stations, which were located in 5 miles, 2.5 miles determined in coast and the harbor. Besides, temperature, salinity and oxygen levels were measured. In the second year, to determine the regional differences, seasonal sampling was carried out in Hopa, Sürmene and Giresun which were isolated from each other to get better results. In 2008, in 7 teams eggs and (or) larvae were gathered from 30 species. Totally 14812 eggs and 2827 larvae were observed. In 2009, in 3 different region (Hopa, Sürmene and Giresun) 51747 eggs and 23685 larvae were determined in 8 teams. For 2009, 15 different species were determined. At the end of this 2-year study, it was determined that the species multiply either in summer. Among the values gathered from the number of species and environmental parameters, there was a strong and linear relation between the number of species and the temperature (r=0.86), high but inverse relation between oxygen content and the former (r=0.71), and between salinity and the number of species there was a low and inverse relation (r=0.33) when compared to others.
