Determination of general architectural qualities of traditional Georgia mestia houses

The city of Mestia, which has an important past about architecture and where is up Svaneti Region of Georgia, is very rich on historical monuments. Traditional architecture of Mestia; is a building which was created by using materials that belongs to the region against to nature conditions of people and topography. People's lifestyle, traditions and customs, climate conditions of the region, protection an ddefensive needs are effective on creation of this architecture. Traditional Mestia Houses; are the buildings which transfer characteristic elements of Georgia civil architecture and traditional lifestyle, to the present day. In this thesis study; it was investigated that Svan Houses and Towers where is in Mestia, Georgia Svaneti region traditional housing architecture. Buildings which was created by masters of the region with traditional building techniquesby using materials of the area. As a result of research, which has done, it was observed that Svan Houses and Towers in traditional Mestia housing architecture area have a specific typology and harbored common plan diagram, building technique, and material qualities. It has been tried to give information about current situation of Svan Houses and Towers. Historicity of Mestia has arrived to present day with all architectural elements and components by protecting highly. Mestia Houses and Towers, which is the most attractive architecture samples, took place in 9th and 12th centuries and most of them came to the present day. It is not reached any qualified and extensive study on Mestia Houses nd Towers. It has observed these qualified and original buildings have not got determination studies on architecture qualities and physical building properties. In this sense; it is aimed a study to remove this problem. In this study; it is aimed to establish a campus which has a culture like Mestia, and includesreflections of it; and it is aimed to introduce architecture qualities of Mestia Houses and Towers.
