In Halveti examination of beliefs and attitudes towards music

This study includes disciplines of sociology, social psychology and music sciences.It is thought that the study is important since with its subject and content; it analyzes the belief and attitude of Halveti Sect which is one of the leading sects in improvement and spread of Islamic culture in Turkey towards music; determines the perspective of individuals towards music in Halvetism; since it is an original and new study in determination of the place of music in Halvetism, primarily in performance and makes use of methods and techniques of ?social psychology? which is one of the recent study fields in our country.This is a descriptive study which is restricted with Şabani Tribe and Kütahya province and in which qualitative and quantitative methods based on survey model were used.As a result of the study; data arranged according to sub-problems were processed and the roles of music in human life, beliefs about music, roles of music in halveti-şabaniye belief, attitudes towards music, behaviors towards music, attitudes towards music genre and culture, evaluations about the place of music in Halveti-Şabani belief, customs and musical performance were included in the study.It is thought that the study would contribute to the field, support original and new studies about this issue.The Key Words: Halveti, religion, attitude, music
