Investigation of spatial organization of Harput city

B.C. It is an important medieval city, where many civilizations, social, economic and religious people and cultures live together in the historical process established in the 3000s. The spatial change of the city in the historical process has been the effect of this change on the identity of the city, the aim of the study is that there should be many architectural structures that have been lost and they should be protected. Harput, which lost its urban character after the 1930s, is a neighborhood located 5 km northeast of the city of Elazig. The area, which has gained importance with its natural, archaeological and urban values where many cultures existed until today, was declared as an Urban Protected Area on 14.12.1975. Harput, Diyarbakır Regional Council for the Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in line with the decision of the Council numbered 1033 on 02.05.2007, the historical urban site in the settlement was changed to urban site and 1st degree archaeological site. The neighborhood also has many protected areas. Within the scope of the study, the changes in the structure of the urban identity, the physical and cultural texture of Harput in the historical process were examined and some analyzes were made on the current state of the study area. In this study, it is aimed to create the typological structure of the city by examining the current situation of the city in the historical process and today by taking the concepts of space and spatial organization, urban identity and historical environment into consideration.
