A survay on the relation between interior organization and quality of service in hospital emergency department: A case study of Trabzon

Hospitals are the basic unit of health care delivery. These buildings are important due to their complex technological and architectural structure as well as the diversity of user groups. Establishment of appropriate emergency medical services field is a powerful reason to provide a sustaining and strong relation between hospital and users both in physical and psychological way. Emergency departments of hospitals are responsible for the patient's treatment in the case of urgent medical requirement and began the healthcare process as fast as possible. Thus we can call emergency department as the most important sub unite of hospitals. As healthcare staff runs the cure process in emergency department, problems which distract the healthcare service, must be studied from their point of view. İn the scope of this research interior organization of emergency department has been identified as a distracting factor of service. Space syntax technique have been used to estimate these problems in design process and find out the effect of interior organization on service. Both space syntax analysis and interviews took place in two hospital emergency department in Trabzon. Comparison done among results obtained from space syntax and interviews have been given in results section. From comparison done between results and hypothesis conclusion section have been created.
