Examining of the relationships between hospital employees' perceptions of workplace ostracism and employee silence

The purpose of this research is to explain the relationships between exclusion in the workplace and employee silence. The population of the study consisted of 685 healthcare professionals working at Tunceli State Hospital. The sample of the study was calculated as 246 people with a 5% margin of error in the 95% confidence interval. The sample group consisted of 250 health workers selected by simple random sampling method. During the analysis of the data in the research, the conformity of the data to the normal distribution was evaluated with the values of kurtosis and skewness. After obtaining the necessary permissions from the relevant institutions, the data collection tools were applied by the researcher to the volunteer participants using face-to-face interview technique. Ferris et al. (2008) and the "Employee Silence Scale" developed by Knoll and Dick (2013) were applied. As a result of the findings obtained, between the perceptions of exclusion in the workplace and employee silence sub-dimensions; A statistically significant and weak positive correlation was found between utilitarian silence and accepting silence sub-dimensions and workplace exclusion. No statistically significant relationship was found between the sub-dimensions of protective silence and protective silence and exclusion at work.
