Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine if the 2005 social studies syllabus would accomplish reaching out to the study skills to study skills according to teachers? opinions. The study population consisted of teachers working in Afyonkarahisar. These teachers were identified and evaluated by "stratified sampling" technique using maximum samples. The study has the characteristics of phenomenology of the qualitative research designs. In this study, seven-question teacher interview form was used Interview form was developed based upon semi-structured, standardized open-ended interview. Data collected in this study was properly analyzed and accessed via qualitative research methods. As a result of the study, teachers expressed qualitatively positive opinion on upskilling students with study skills in Social Studies rogramme. It was stated that the negative effects and the encountered difficulties in the course of upskilling students with study skills were environmental factors, socio-economic level of the family and the impossibilities depending on the type of the school the teachers have been working. Suggestions that could be effective in upskilling with study skills have been made considering the teachers? opinion. Keywords: Social Studies Programme, Study Skills
