Teachers' opinions on material use in Life science teaching

This research is conducted with the aim of determining the opinions of the class teachers regarding the use of material in Life Science lesson teaching on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of primary schools. The research is conducted according to qualitative research methods. The universe of the research is constituted by primary school teachers in Gaziantep province in 2015-2016 academic year. The sample of the research consists of class teachers working in primary schools in Şahinbey district of Gaziantep province. Personal information form, questionnaire and semi-structured interview form are used as the data collection tool in the research. In the first part of the questionnaire used as data collection tool; four questions about the teacher's personal information are included. In the second part, 11 questions about the materials that the teacher used are included. The semi-structured interview form used in the research consists of 7 open-ended questions. In the study, a questionnaire is applied to 195 class teachers and 16 class teachers are interviewed. Descriptive analysis and content analysis methods are used in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. In the research, it is found that the class teachers believs that the use of materials is effective in teaching Life Science lesson, that the materials used makes the teaching better and increases the students' focus on the lesson.
