Abstract (EN)

In this study, the position of Chief Physician, some treatments used in the Ottoman Empire, the method of training physicians in the Ottoman Empire, medical education centers, the life and works of Gevrekzâde Hâfız Hasan Efendi were discussed through the sample of Gevrekzâde Hâfız Hasan Efendi. Finally, the evaluation and transcription of the Nikris Treatise was made. The reason why Gevrekzâde Hasan Efendi dealt with the treatise on nikris (gout) is that kings, sultans, viziers, scientists, philosophers and doctors suffered from the disease of nikris. For this reason, there was a need to examine and evaluate the work. Gevrekzâde used the following expressions in his pamphlet, "The occurrence of this disease in the people mentioned indicates divine precaution and justice, that on the one hand, it bestows the perfection that it does not give, on the other hand. On the other hand, he gave these people this difficulty in return for the blessings he bestowed and favored." Gevrekzâde, in his Nikris Treatise, dealt with who is diagnosed with nikris disease, its causes and the treatment of the disease. He recommended diets (diets) for the treatment of Nikris disease and prepared paste compositions for the treatment of the disease, based on the experience of his predecessors and his own medicine, and wrote down their content and application methods Keywords: Gevrekzâde Hafız Hasan Efendi, Ottoman medicine, Treatment methods in the Ottoman Empire, Gout, Chief Physi
