Özet (EN)

In this thesis, a cosmological model is developed that unifies the scalar sector of gravity with spontaneous symmetry breaking by extending the Jordan--Brans--Dicke (JBD) framework through the introduction of a specific potential, inspired by the hypothesis that the Higgs field and the cosmic scale factor are fundamentally linked. The scalar mode of gravity is treated as a conformal factor of the metric, leading to a reduced action in Minkowski space that mirrors the Higgs mechanism by simultaneously describing a massive scalar excitation and an expanding spacetime background. Within this framework, a coupled Lagrangian is derived involving the JBD scalar field and the Higgs field, the latter reinterpreted to reflect the dynamics of the cosmic scale factor. Through a field-space coordinate transformation applied to the reduced JBD action---whose kinetic sector takes the form of a nonlinear sigma model---the theory is reformulated such that the two scalar fields decouple, thereby allowing a Higgs-like mechanism to manifest. This reformulation leads naturally to spontaneous symmetry breaking, resulting in a time-dependent vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the Higgs field and associated Higgs bosons as quantized fluctuations. By embedding the Standard Model into the Einstein--JBD Lagrangian, the time-dependence of the Higgs field is shown to affect the effective gravitational constant G_eff}, giving rise to a dual Big Bang scenario: the first characterized by a vanishing spatial volume and G_eff = 0 , evolving through a phase of negative, repulsive gravity dominated by JBD dynamics, and a second Big Bang where G_eff transitions from negative infinity to positive values. To explore internal symmetries, an SO(3) symmetric triplet of Higgs fields is introduced, and it is shown that the conserved quantity associated with this symmetry induces spontaneous symmetry breaking and Higgs mass generation.
