Troubles experienced by İndian pilgrims: Theft and measures taken by the Ottaman State (1820-1914)

From 1517 onwards, the Ottoman Empire attached great importance to the safe and comfortable journey of Muslims who set out to reach the Holy Land for pilgrimage and Umrah. During the pilgrimage season, pilgrims from different geographies gathered together to come to İstanbul first and from there, the pilgrims reached the Surre Regiment and the Holy Land. The Surre Regiment, along with the convoys, were subjected to attacks by Bedouins living in the deserts along the route. The frequent attack and looting of urban tribes by raids on pilgrimage groups endangered the safety of pilgrims. Hadimü'l Harameyn in this capacity as a great respect fort he holy land of the Ottoman Empire took some measures by combating these threats. Taking responsibility for Indian Muslim pilgrims who came to the Holy Land for worship, the Ottoman Empire tired to solve the problems of the pilgrims. Especially XIX. century and XX. these problems of Indian pilgrims who had many problems related to public order in pilgrimage in the beginning of the XIX. th century were followed and solved by the Ottoman Empire. The state, which has made intensive efforts to prevent urban attacks, has eliminated all the material and spiritual problems of pilgrims.
