Özet (EN)
The purpose of the research is to determine the knowledge and beliefs of women and their partners related to hysterectomy and to provide information to the consultancy guidelines used by health professionals who provide hysterectomy counseling. The study was conducted between November 2016 and April 2017 with 215 women and 179 spouses who will undergo hysterectomy surgery in Aydın Maternal and Child Diseases Hospital and Adnan Menderes University Application and Research Hospital. The research data were collected by the researcher with the questionnaire prepared according to the literature. Analysis of the data obtained from the study was analyzed in the SPSS 18.0 program. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test were used in the evaluation of the data. The average age of the women was 49.31 ± 7.33 and the average age of the spouses was 52.77 ± 6.24. It has been identified that 63.3% of the women were literate / primary school, 73% were not working, 39.1% were living in the district, 69.3% were equal to income and 62.8% were not menopausal. It was determined that 43.6% of the spouses were literate / primary school, 30.2% were workers, 34.6% were in the province for the longest period and 34.6% were living in the village. It was determined that 86% of the women and 93.3% of the spouses know which organs will be taken during the operation, 66.5% of the women and 62% of the spouses partially know the uterus duty. It is seen that 26% of women, 28.5% of spouses know avoidanceto heavy works after surgery, 26.5% of females and 25.1% of spouses know the duration of postoperative sexual abstinence. In addition, 69.8% of the women, 69.3% of the spouses received information about the operation, and 50.3% of the women and 61% of the spouses reported that they received information from the doctors. For the majority of women (30.4%), it was determined that uterus was the most important feminine organ and vagina was the majority (27.5%) for their spouses. It was determined that women had positive and negative thoughts about hysterectomy. It has been seen that hysterectomy information is better for women with lower age groups and women to income equal/ higher. It has been found that spouses who have a high education level, who live the longest province and who are civil servants / workers, respond more correctly to hysterectomy information. It is determined that sexuality is more important for women and spouses whose ages are younger but the average of sexuality is higher for their spouses. The results of the study showed that the knowledge and ideas of women and their spouses about hysterectomy differ in the direction of the received data. It is seen that spouses have better information status than women. It is very important for health personnel to give information about hysterectomy to women and their spouses, especially those who spend more time with the patient, in order to correct misinformation. Although women have more positive thoughts about hysterectomy, negative thoughts are found to be underestimated. The thoughts of women and their spouses should be assessed and their negative thoughts should be reduced. More studies should be done to examine knowledge and ideas about hysterectomy.
