The expantion of the hittite state in central North-West Anatolia

Hittites who became dominant after withdrawal of Assyrian merchants from "karum" which was settled in central Anatolia, established a united kingdom after they had been arrived there. Hittites who had intense relationships with Western Anatolia since she was established and with Egypt during imperial period, expanded to Syria. The Kingdom centralized in Central Anatolia, stayed in touch with Western Anatolia because their allies and enemies. The most possible route was passed from the Inner Northwestern Anatolia. In this context, because Inner Northwestern Anatolia was in the key position, this region had been settled in almost every historical period. Hittite documents also referred this region. However, it is not possible to determine all settlements and geographical areas. Archaeological data helps to localize some settlements and region even written sources is insufficient. These sources involve surveys and excavations conducted in the region and there are some information about 2nd millennium BC thanks to these researches. The settlement which we have sufficient and quite numerous information from, is Şarhöyük where researches has not been completed yet.
