Abstract (EN)

Alan sarised at the Eurasian steppes after Scyths and Sarmatians. Although it is accepted that Alans were nomadic and İranian languaged people and Ossetes which live in Caucasus are descendants of them,there are different ideas about their origin. Beside they acted an important role at the history of North Caucasus and Caspian since they first appeared on the history stage.They took part at the Migration Period after the Hun invasion and than they straggled different parts of the world with the Mongol invasion, so Alan history presents an active picture. Despite disintegrating different geographical areas of world, a particular of Alans stayed at Caucasus. At the long historical process, Alans subsisted somesocio-economic, political and ecclesiastical exchanges in their culturel form. At the beginning they were nomadic and pagan, but in the lenght of time they became settled and with their old assurences Christianity generalized at the Alan country. Alans merged with strong states like Byzantine Empire, Khazars, Umeyyeds and Abbasids durıng the medieval ages and at same time they came in touch with the different nations and groups which arrived Caucasus from Asia steppes. Theese powerfull nations and states who tried to dominate on Black Sea and Caucasia steppes such as Huns, Byzantine Empire, Khazars and Mongols, made important marks on the history and culture of Alans.
