Abstract (EN)

Religion is a phenomenon that emerged with the first human being seen in the world. All religions with the belief of monotheism are considered to have started the educational activities with the prophet, since he saw the first man as the first prophet. In time, these training activities began to be organized and institutionalized. Especially after the second half of the nineteenth century, new disciplines with specialties emerged. One of these disciplines is religious education. Although religious education took place in universities as a scientific discipline, it was quite late in our country, although it was in the early 20th century in the West. This delay also delayed the works in the field. In particular, studies in the field of religious education in Turkey in recent years has increased the interest in this area. Human life according to traditional classification; infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. Each development period has its own characteristics. Religious education is a science which aims to show that religion can be taught to every individual while examining these different periods, and to show why, how, in what way and with which means. The rate of elderly population is increasing both in our country and in the world. Accordingly, old age affects both physiological, psychological and sociological dimensions of the individual. The status of the elderly, whose self-esteem, productivity and adaptability decreases gradually, also changes. The memory of the elderly becomes increasingly weak with the disturbance of sleep patterns. The body is no longer able to overcome the illnesses easily, and as a result of the loss of spouses and peers, the elderly falls into a great pessimism. In addition to this, his step-by-step approach to death may cause him to be depressed. At this point, the phenomenon of religion is undoubtedly one of the most important elements that will bring solutions to the problems of elderly individuals and provide them relief. Thus, religion will help the elderly to look at both yesterday and today and tomorrow. In this study, the Residents' Perspectives on Religious Life and Religious Education, the religious lives of elderly people living in Ağrı Nursing Home were examined in terms of belief, worship, knowledge and emotion. In addition, the attitudes of the elderly in the nursing home to religious education were revealed. For this purpose, this research consists of two parts: theory and practice. While forming the theory part of the research, researches on the subject of old age and religious education were examined and in the application part, a survey and interview study was conducted to reveal the relationship between old age, religious life and religious education. At every stage of the research, my valuable teacher and consultant Dr. Lecturer. I would like to thank the member Hayati TETİK. In addition, to my esteemed wife Özcan PELİT, who did not spare her assistance in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the results, to the nursing home psychologist Abdulvahap GÜNDOĞDU, who provided us with all kinds of opportunities in Ağrı Nursing Home, always with my precious family, friends and my family.
